Postgraduate Medicine Courses
ECU offers postgraduate medicine programs in Aviation Medicine, Men’s Health and Andrology, Women's Health, Occupational Medicine, Health and Safety, Geriatric Medicine, Palliative Care and Preventive Medicine.
The Aviation Medicine course results in a Postgraduate Certificate. In all other study areas three levels of study are available: Masters by coursework (9 units), Postgraduate Diploma (6 units) and Postgraduate Certificate (3 units).

Graduate Certificate in Aviation Medicine: The Graduate Certificate in Aviation Medicine has been developed for medical practitioners seeking certification to undertake medical examinations of pilots and air traffic controllers. This course is also relevant to practitioners involved in air transportation of patients.

Master of Men's Health and Andrology and Graduate Diploma of Men's Health and Andrology: The Men's Health and Andrology courses have been developed for medical practitioners seeking to respond to the health needs of men. With improved health across the world and greater life expectancy, preventive health and quality of life become more important.

Master of Women's Health Care: The Master of Women's Health Care offers a broad range of postgraduate study options to those involved in the provision of health services for women. Inclusive of public health, social and clinical aspects women's health care, and developed between women's health, psychology, nursing, midwifery and medical disciplines across two Schools, this course will cater for students from a range of undergraduate backgrounds.It will provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to improve the delivery of care to women within the individual clinical, policy and/or organisational context.

Master of Occupational Medicine, Health and Safety and Graduate Diploma of Occupational Medicine Health and Safety: The Occupational Medicine, Health and Safety courses have been developed for medical practitioners seeking the capacity to make the working environment a safer and healthier place, and to make a significant contribution to the efficiency of industry and reduce cost to the community through the prevention of disease and injury.

Master of Geriatric Medicine and Graduate Diploma of Geriatric Medicine: The Geriatric Medicine courses equip medical practitioners and nurses with the knowledge and skills to provide high quality care for older people. They have a clinical focus, emphasising the common problems encountered with ageing. In recognition of the importance of restoration and maintenance of function and quality of life both in older adults who are unwell as well as those who are healthy, preventive aspects are explored within an evidence-based context

Master of Palliative Care and Graduate Diploma of Palliative Care: Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients facing life-threatening illnesses and their significant others. This is achieved through the consideration of the whole person including physical, psychosocial and spiritual aspects of care and attention to the prevention and relief of suffering. These courses assist health practitioners who wish to provide quality palliative care to those facing terminal illness and their significant others.
- Master of Preventive Medicine and Graduate Diploma of Preventive Medicine: The Preventive Medicine courses have been developed for health practitioners seeking to respond within a broad patient-centred and evidence-based framework to the community's interest in prevention and desire for healthcare participation. With unprecedented levels of good health in an ageing population many people seek information on all preventive measures including non-pharmacological, complementary and alternative therapies. This course balances the study of evidence-based practice with community expectations, so that practicing clinicians are better able to provide quality information and guidance on all health strategies.
